Matt Kenseth
Born: 3-10-1972
Team: Roush Fenway Racing
First Win: 5-28-2000
Despite being one of the most consistent drivers at the Cup level, Matt Kenseth seems to fly under the radar. Like many of NASCAR’s drivers, Matt’s father helped him get into racing as a teenager in Wisconsin. Whenever opportunity knocked, Matt seemed to always be up for the challenge and quickly progressed through the different series.
Kenseth easily won the Cup Championship in 2003 and started 2009 out with a win at the Daytona 500. Matt has also made the Chase (NASCAR playoffs) every year since 2004. Even with a resume that most NASCAR drivers would envy, Matt doesn’t seem to get the attention that some other less successful drivers get.
In 2009 Matt got a new crew chief with the arrival of Drew Blickensderfer. Coincidentally, Matt started out 2009 by winning the first 2 races of the year. With an experienced Roush-Fenway team behind him chances are good that Matt Kenseth will grab some more headlines in the next few years.
