Mark Martin
Born: 1-9-1959
Team: Hendrick Motorsports
First Win: 10-22-1989
Probably the most respected driver in the NASCAR garage area is Mark Martin. Other drivers and fans alike have long admired Mark for his passion and dedication to stock car racing. Although Mark Martin has never won a Cup Championship, he did finish 2nd in the standings in 1990, 1994, 1998 and 2002. Simply put, Mark has been a very good driver for a very long time.
Originally from Arkansas, Martin graduated from dirt tracks to asphalt racing and has been a fixture in NASCAR for well over 20 years. Mark Martin entered a “partial” retirement in 2005 and only drove in races occasionally. Rick Hendrick offered Mark a position driving for his team full time for the 2009 season. Martin couldn’t turn down the opportunity to drive for the most successful team in NASCAR. Currently at age 50 Martin is arguably driving as good as he ever has.
