Kyle Busch
Born: 5-2-1985
Team: Joe Gibbs Racing
First Win: 9-4-2005
The new kid in town is named Kyle Busch aka, Rowdy. Kyle’s first Cup Series victory came in 2005. 2008 was the year of Kyle Bush, till it fell apart. Kyle had 21 wins in 2008 with the Cup, Nationwide and Craftsman Truck series, a record for the most combined wins in a single season. Going into the “Chase” or NASCAR playoffs, Kyle was the favorite to win the 2008 Cup Championship. Shortly after the Chase started Kyle lost his magic touch and suddenly came crashing back down to earth to finish 10th in the final points standings.
Kyle is from Las Vegas and is also the younger brother of NASCAR Cup Champion Kurt Busch. 2008 was also Kyle’s first year with Joe Gibbs Racing. Home for Busch had been at Hendrick Motorsports until Hendrick took on Dale Earnhardt Jr. After making the switch to Gibbs, Busch had a phenomenal 2008, while Dale Earnhardt Jr. struggled to find the winner’s circle. Outspoken, cocky and arrogant are all accurate statements in regards to Kyle’s attitude. Like Jeff Gordon before him, Kyle Busch has his share of critics.
One thing that can’t be denied is that Kyle Busch is one of the most talented drivers in NASCAR. With time on his side, Rowdy will certainly provide NASCAR fans with something to watch for a long time to come.
