Jeff Gordon
Born: 8-4-1971
Team: Hendrick Motorsports
First Win: 5-29-1994
The most successful driver in NASCAR for the last 17 years has been Jeff Gordon. Jeff has 4 NASCAR Cup Series Championships to go along with 82 wins. By the age of 5 Jeff was already racing quarter midgets and finding the winners circle. Success came easy to the young driver when he first entered Cup Series racing in 1992. Being a California boy with self confidence who happened to win a lot of races, Jeff was often booed early in his career.
Despite the resentment that some fans displayed, Jeff has become one of the most popular drivers in NASCAR. Jeff drives the # 24 car for Hendrick Motorsports and has been associated with Chevrolet and DuPont for most of his career.
In addition to driving, Jeff also is a co-owner of Hendrick Motorsports teammate Jimmie Johnson’s #48 car. Jeff Gordon is probably NASCAR’s most recognizable driver outside of the Sport. Jeff has appeared on Saturday Night Live and has hosted on Regis and Kelly when Regis Philbin is out. When all is said and done, Jeff Gordon will be remembered as one of the NASCAR greats.
